THE BBQ BOSS is engineered to collect and vaporize drippings from your meat as it cooks. This vaporization creates that rich BBQ smoke without flare-ups and enhances the natural flavour of your food.
Q: How does THE BBQ BOSS virtually eliminate flare-ups?
A: As the grease from the food is released, it drops onto the pad and becomes a film on the surface of the wires. It does not become a large pool and create a fire. As this film of grease descends through the pad, it is incinerated creating a flavourful smoke.
Q: How does THE BBQ BOSS provide better heat distribution?
A: A temperature gradient is created throughout the thickness of the pad. Each individual element transfers heat outwards and upwards resulting in an even final cooking surface above the pad. No technologies work better. It can make old barbecues work like new.
Q: When I use THE BBQ BOSS I get more smoke than ever before, why is that?
A: The grease from your meat is completely vaporised. This is the source of the smoke. With Lava Rocks or metal plates, the grease can pool and become a fire or it ends up in the bottom of your grill making a mess.
Q: I do not seem to get any grease in my drip can at the bottom of the barbecue. Is this normal?
A: Yes, that is normal. The grease has been incinerated. You may see more ash in the bottom of your grill.
Q: Does the ash from the grease build up on THE BBQ BOSS pad?
A: You will occasionally see a build-up on the top of THE BBQ BOSS. For the best results, the pad should be shaken or tapped and turned over on a regular basis (approx. every 5 uses). The ash will tap off the pad due to the engineered loop structure. If you allow the carbon and droppings to build up to the point where the grease is allowed to pool as opposed to create the vaporising film, you could get a flare up. Simply take out the pad, tap off and flip over. The pad will perform as new.
Q: Why does THE BBQ BOSS look like a book with staples on one side only?
A: This design facilitates easy cleaning. The ash will fall out after tapping each layer. Hold the pad from the stapled end when cleaning. Do not flatten the pad or try to squish the layers together. THE BBQ BOSS is designed to create space and air between the layers in order to function properly.
Q: Does THE BBQ BOSS make different sizes? / THE BBQ BOSS does not fill the entire area under my grill?
A: Larger grills may have enough room to fit two or more pads, however, THE BBQ BOSS is not meant to cover the entire surface under your grill. The exact placement of THE BBQ BOSS is not crucial to the performance. Always cook directly over THE BBQ BOSS. Our engineers designed and tested THE BBQ BOSS to provide enough area to cook for a family of five.
Q: THE BBQ BOSS makes my small camp style barbecue grill perform, but it is slightly too large. Can it be cut?
A: Although we do not recommend altering the size, THE BBQ BOSS can be cut with a normal pair of scissors. Be sure to only shorten the 16" dimension, leaving at least two staples in place. Do not cut the staples off the pad - it will fall apart.
Q: Is there any way I can get a fire on my grill while using THE BBQ BOSS?
A: Unfortunately, yes. If you turn the heat on your grill to the point where the cooking grill itself is too hot, you can get a fire. This will take a combination of very high heat and greasy food. If it happens, turn down the heat. You will notice a very quick response time in controlling the fire while using THE BBQ BOSS.
