Recipe: Apple Cinnamon Bombs
This delicious recipe was passed onto me from a friend years ago. Filled with cinnamon and brown sugar, they are very easy to make and are guaranteed to hit that sweet spot after a big meal!
Step One:
- Wash and core your apples. Hold onto the cores as you can use a small piece as a plug at the bottom of your apples.
Step Two:
- Slice the apples down the side from top to bottom stopping about 3/4 of the way down so that the apple still holds together. Using a small pice of the core, plug the bottom side of the apple so that it can be filled.
Step Three:
- Craft some square aluminum foil sheets to wrap the apples with. Give them each a quick shot of cooking spray and then nest each apple into the foil so that it is easy to wrap into a ball once filled.
Step Four:
- Combine 3 parts brown sugar with 1 part cinnamon to create the inner mixture. Go ahead and fill each apple right up to the top. Once filled give the apple a drizzle of maple syrup or honey, then finish with a small square of butter.
Step Five:
- Wrap the apples tightly in the foil and then grill for approx 1 hour or until soft.
Step Six:
- Served on their own or with a little ice cream, these tasty treats are sure to impress. Perfect for a cool fall evening!
